Romantic Relationships Help Stabilize Neurotic Personalities and Conditions

There are billions of people that are considered to be neurotic and suffer daily from conditions like depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Panic Disorder, and Panic Attacks, but did you know that a romantic, loving, caring, and supportive relationship can help stabilize patients just as well as a pill or therapy. These relationships can have a very stabilizing affect on people who suffer from such neurotic conditions according to a new study published in the Online Edition of the Journal of Personality.

Some doctors believe that therapy or pills are the answer to taming a neurotic personality and are the only way to treat their conditions, but alternatives should be evaluated as well. Living with neurotic conditions is a hardship and many people face a life-long battle with their mental health. Pharmacy technicians can play an integral part in their customers and patients care by informing them of new research and other treatment options for anxiety disorders.

Dr. Christine Finn, of the University of Jenna, Germany, recently commented on the study’s excellent findings. “Neurotic people are rather anxious, insecure, and easily annoyed. They have a tendency towards depression, show low self-esteem, and tend to be generally dissatisfied with their lives. However, we were able to show that they become more stable in a love relationship, and that their personality stabilizes,” said Finn.
