Work Tips: Skills You Need To Work in the Pharmacy

Whether you are a pharmacy technician student or currently working in a pharmacy, there are certain skills you need to possess to do the job. Being aware of these needed skills will help you land your dream pharmacy technician job or it may help you decide if becoming a pharmacy technician is for you. Here is a look at some of the essential skills you need to be a star pharmacy technician:

 

Attention to detail.  Working as a pharmacy technician requires great attention to detail. Technicians must make sure they are giving patients the right drug strength to the right patient.  They must also print the correct patient information and drug information for correct prescription.

Good computer literacy skills. Being computer savy is essential in many professions and excellent computer skills are a must in the pharmacy world.  Technicians should be able to operate a computer and also practice good data entry skills as well.  They will also use different programs that are specialized pharmacy programs.

Interpersonal Skills. Pharmacy technicians will also need good interpersonal skills on the job. This means being able to work with a variety of people. You will work with patients, pharmacists, fellow technicians, and other important pharmacy professionals. Knowing how to interact with these individuals is imperative to becoming a pharmacy technician.
