Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to enroll in NPTA's Official Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program™ , individuals:
  • must be 18 years of age, or older;
  • must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
  • cannot have been convicted of or plead guilty to a felony offense;
  • cannot have been convicted of or plead guilty to any drug-related offense.

Program Schedule

NPTA's Online Pharmacy Technician Training Program™ is a self-paced program, consisting of nine seperate courses.
Each course will require approximately 60 - 80 contact hours, excluding the externship course, which will require an additional 120 externship hours.
 
The entire program, therefore, will require 660 - 840 contact hours. This equals between 6 and 12 months, depending upon your time availability, schedule and full-time vs. part-time status. Students are permitted 12 months from their official enrollment date to complete this course, so you should be able to commit a minimum of 12 to 15 hours per week to this program prior to enrolling.  
 
 
 

Course Syllabus

Each course (Unit) is comprised of multiple lessons, which include various activities, including lesson objectives, lesson overview, reading assignments, lesson review questions, activities (such as case studies, labs, critical thinking exercises), a discussion forum assignment, web challenges and a lesson exam. Students are required to complete ALL assignments listed.

Pharmacy Externship

Students will be required to complete 120 hours of practical experience through an externship program, for completion of the full program. Externships may be completed at one facility, or broken up into two 60-hour or three 40-hour externships, providing the student with hands-on exposure to more than one practice setting.
 
Externships are non-paid and depending upon the facility, students may be required to obtain student liability insurance, vaccinations and/or undergo drug testing. These products/services are not included in the tuition fee and shall be the responsibility of the student.
 
NPTA will assist the student in the process of securing an externship site, however it is the responsibility of the student to secure an approved externship site and proctor.
 
Students who elect to not participate in the pharmacy externship will be required to submit an official request in writing and will receive a certificate indicating "No Externship Completed." upon successful completion of all other course requirements.
 
 
 
 

Tuition Fee/Payment Options

Tuition list price is $2,299 (tuition includes)
  • Prepay Option = $1899 (Save $400)
  • Flex-Plan Option = $259 today + seventeen monthly auto-deduct payments of $120
Tuition fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. 
 

Enrollment

An enrollment contract is required to be completed and submitted, regardless of enrollment method.

Requirements to practice as a pharmacy technician are established and regulated in each state by the State Board of Pharmacy.
 
NPTA requires prospective students to review regulations to practice as a pharmacy technician in their specific state prior to enrolling in NPTA's Online Pharmacy Technician Training Program™.

National Certification

NPTA's Online Pharmacy Technician Training Program™ is NOT a certification program; it is a comprehensive career training program. Individuals who successfully complete the program are NOT granted the right to use the CPhT credentials, without passing an accredited national certification exam.
 
NPTA's Online Pharmacy Technician Training Program™ is designed to fully prepare students to sit for a national certification exam upon successful completion of the program, however NPTA does not make any warranties or claims regarding an individuals score on such exams.
