1. Ally is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy.
2. Kim is a preceptor for immunization training at the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy and an LPN Center Medical Specialist at Grifols Biomat in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was the 2018 Winner of the National Friend of Pharmacy Award from the American Pharmacists Association for her work with the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy Immunization Program.
Goals & Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Recognize a pharmacy technician's responsibility to guarantee safety in the provision of vaccines.

List at least three circumstances in which a pharmacy technician should refuse to give a vaccine.

Explain the documentation required when providing vaccines.

Describe the public health impact of vaccination.

Comment on the concept of herd immunity and the contribution of vaccines to herd immunity.

Identify methods to determine which patients are in need of a vaccine.
