How to get started with Zoom

Please download the latest version of Zoom for best connectivity here: Upgrade / update to the latest version – Zoom Help Center.

 

Do you need an account to use Zoom?

A Zoom account is notrequired if you are strictly joining Zoom Meetings as a participant. But you will have to download the app on an IOS device to attend a zoom session. If someone invites you to their meeting, you can join as a participant without creating an account. However, if the host has restricted joining meetings using authentication profiles, then the participant will need a Zoom account to access the meeting. Learn more about joining a Zoom meeting.

A Zoom account is only required if you need to create your own meetings and send invitations to participants. Having a Zoom account allows you to create your own Instant Meetings or Schedule Meetings. An account also allows you to access your personal settings, where you can update your profile or upgrade your plan at any time.

 

How to join the Student Summit once it begins?

We previously sent you an email with instructions on how to access the Summit. If you did not receive that email, please check your spam folder as it may send there. You can join a meeting by clicking the meeting link or going to join.zoom.us and entering in the meeting ID. If either of these does not work, please contact support.

 

Browsers

We recommend using Chrome to access the Student Summit. You will need to disable your extensions that run in the background to ensure Chrome will run properly. You can do so by copying and pasting chrome://extensions/ in your URL bar.  

 

How to access through the Zoom App?

You can access the Zoom app by going to Google Play or the Apple Store for download. For best connectivity, please use a desktop to join the Student Summit.

 

How to access the content slides and handouts

You can access the content slides and handouts for the Student Summit by accessing the main page and it will be listed. Our website is also structured to print out any of the content shown from your browser.

 

 

Troubleshooting

Video/Camera not displaying correctly or freezing? Please go here for different tips on how to fix no display: My video/camera isn't working – Zoom Help Center. NOTE: This can also be caused due to poor Wi-Fi strength and/or choice of browser.

 

Circle app not allowing you to download? The Circle app is only available for apple products but can still be accessed from any browser on a desktop.
